The angel told Mary, “You will conceive and give birth to a son…He will be holy…and be called the Son of God” (Lk. 1:31, 35). “Though He was God…He gave up His divine privileges, humbled Himself, and died on a cross” (Phlp. 2:5-11). Jesus told His disciples, “Let the children come to Me. For the kingdom of heaven belongs to those who are like these children” (Mat. 19:14). “Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from Him. Children born to a young man are like arrows in a warrior’s hands. How joyful is the man whose quiver is full of them!” (Ps. 127:3–5a).
“Whoever sheds man’s blood, by man his blood shall be shed, for in the image of God He made man. As for you, be fruitful and multiply; Populate the earth abundantly and multiply in it.” (Gen. 9:6-7). “You shall not murder” (Ex 20:13). It’s a sin.
A Webster’s Dictionary defines abortion as: “1. the termination of a pregnancy accompanied, resulting, or closely followed by the death of the embryo or fetus… spontaneous expulsion of a human fetus during the first twelve weeks of gestation”, the definition of abort as: “to terminate a procedure prematurely: CANCEL”, and of the word, aborticide: “destruction of life; violent death; killing.” A thesaurus also gives definitive synonyms of the word abortion, as: “failure, to slip, trip, or stumble, botch, botchery, thrown away.” It also offers comments associated with these words as: “the bubble has burst; all is lost; the devil to pay.”
And yet (thank God!), there is no sin for which we may not be forgiven if, and when, we sincerely repent and seek God’s forgiveness. The Lord’s apostle, Paul, told King Agrippa, “All must repent of their sins and turn to God—and prove they have changed by the good things they do.” (Acts 26:20, NLT) Having done that, we may rest assured that “He has removed our sins as far from us as the east is from the west.” (Ps. 103:12) “The Lord is not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.” (2 Pet 3:9)
