His Victory is Ours

Struggling to cope with the bumps and blows of life – all the obstacles, accidents, and hindrances – requires a great deal of our time and energy. So much so that it has become a common theme for writers of verse and verbiage of every genre. For example, we read/sing: “Days are filled with sorrow and care, hearts are lonely and drear,” – “Troublesome times are here, filling men’s hearts with fear,” and “Nobody knows the troubles I’ve seen, nobody knows my sorrow.” We’ve all experienced this worlds’ negative influence to one degree or another.

The influence of evil, enemy forces surround us today, just as the wicked Midianites who ravaged God’s people in Canaan. And we too, like those good people, need to have a change of heart and cry out to God, repent, and follow His instructions. But our problem today is our so-called leaders refuse to recognize God. And that’s largely due to those who tout for “the division of church and state,” which makes no sense because the Almighty Creator of everything in His universe is, by that very fact, rightfully involved in every facet of our lives, including politics and government…as He should be. But, since the world-at-large has rejected God, what or who is left?

Yes, “the devil is good at what he does bad.” He is the culprit behind all the evil forces in our sin-sick societies and so, as believers, we too, are, by default, at war with his enemy horde.

“Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.” (1 Pet. 5:8)

“For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.” (Eph. 6:12, NLT)

“We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments.” (2 Cor. 10:4)
