Program Details:

The Pre-Employment Transitions Services (Pre-ETS) is a 3 Year Program for Sophomores, Juniors & Seniors in High School operated through Arkansas Rehabilitation Services (ARS). It is a class-based program focusing on Career to Work education accomplished by partnering with local high schools. Students receive Class Credit toward Graduation for taking the class. Career Competition:

Myers-Davis Life Coaching and Disability Services proudly hosts an annual Career Competition for our Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) students along with our local partner high schools. This event is an outstanding opportunity for students to showcase their talents and abilities, build confidence in professional settings, network with peers from other schools, and practice workplace readiness and communication skills.

To prepare for the competition, each participating school selects a project in one of three categories:
• Simulated Business
• Entrepreneurship
• Service Learning

Over the course of 6–8 weeks, students work collaboratively to develop their projects from the ground up. They take ownership of every step of the process, including creating a business or service concept, designing branding and marketing materials, developing sales strategies, writing business plans, producing products or planning service initiatives, and choosing a cause or organization to support through donations of time or earned profits.

At the culmination of the program, students come together for a statewide showcase event where they present their projects to a panel of judges. These judges are professionals from across Arkansas with expertise in disability services and workforce development. During the competition, each class hosts a booth where students demonstrate their products or services, answer questions from judges, share their business plans and marketing strategies, and highlight the skills they have gained throughout the experience.

Prizes and door prizes are awarded, and lunch is provided for participants and guests.

In 2026, we expanded the event even further by welcoming potential employers who were onsite with informational booths, giving students the chance to explore real job opportunities, practice networking with professionals, and make valuable community connections.

Student Jobs:

As part of the curriculum for the program, the Myers-Davis Educators & Job Coaches will assist the students in finding jobs to match their abilities and interests within the school system. And if certain jobs are available outside the school system and in the students’ community, job coaches will assist the student in training and applying for those jobs. Students will be paid the current minimum wage rate thru Myers-Davis Life Coaching. Participation in paid work-based learning activities will not affect SSI/SSDI benefits when reported properly. Myers-Davis will assist you in reporting income to Social Security.
