Sex Ed Video Series

The following video link is a series of videos on YouTube produced by the National Council on Independent Living. This helpful 10-part series is titled Sex Ed for People with IDD (intellectual and developmental disabilities). The series breaks down multiple subtopics regarding sexual health in an easy-to-understand format.

The Council on Quality and Leadership (CQL) has produced a set of conversation flashcards that includes an informative Facilitator’s Guide. The guide features tips on discussion and games with instructions to play.

Support Person Resource

Elevatus Training is a national leader of sexuality education for people with IDD. They offer online workshops and self-study courses for support staff and parents/guardians. If you want to take it a step further, they also offer a 3-day certificate training to become a certified Sexuality Educator and Trainer. In addition, you can purchase a curriculum and other resources from them.

Knowledge is Education.

Sexual Education for people with IDD can be an uncomfortable or maybe tricky subject, but it doesn't have to be. Here are some resources to get you started.
