Smart911 is a FREE service that allows a 9-1-1 call center to access additional personal information when you make a call to 9-1-1 with a registered phone number. When signing up for Smart911, you create a Safety Profile that has additional personal details that you may enter at your comfortability level. These personal details will display for a 9-1-1 call center representative when you make a call to 9-1-1. The personal details can include things such as name, height, weight, allergies, blood type, information on medical conditions, etc.
The personal details you choose to provide can help emergency response teams better assist you during an emergency. Smart911 ensures the details you would need to tell 9-1-1 are immediately available when you cannot verbally provide them. This may be the case if you are panicked, or unable to communicate, or it is unsafe to communicate.
Smart911 also has a free smartphone app that you can download to manage your Safety Profile, and receive alerts/updates about various topics. The app is available on the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store.
As far as information security, the promise is that: “Smart911 utilizes the highest standards in physical and computer security technologies and conducts regular audits to ensure all information held in Smart911 is kept secure, and only made available to 9-1-1 and emergency responders who are responding to or planning for emergencies.”
