HOW DETERMINED ARE YOU TO SUCCEED?

HOW DETERMINED ARE YOU TO SUCCEED?

Think of it this way . . .

Living in an imperfect world, we have our ups and downs. Sometimes we become discouraged, burned out or get so upset that we need to just stop, reconnoiter, get our bearings straight and restart. We can, if we don’t weaken. (Did I hear someone say, “But who wants to be strong?”) No one appreciates wishy-washy weakness, not even those who are. “To be weak is miserable.” Those who lack traits that draw interest, stimulate and challenge will usually always be “weighed in the balance and found wanting.”

Recognizing, and using, our special talents, we should “make the most of every opportunity.” If time is of the essence and precious, then it should be utilized according to our full potential, right? Wasting time is, at best, merely existing, at its worst, it’s time forever lost.

Deal with your down times as quickly as possible, then get busy again, watching, listening, reading and learning, and just keep on keeping on. Such an attitude in one’s giftedness will keep them steadily and profitably busy in one successful venture after another.

Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan ‘Press On’ has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.” — Calvin Coolidge, 30th president of the US (1872-1933)

Qualifier: I believe this is only true when determined persistence is guided by the spirit of righteous motives.
