CHARITY, A QUICKLY VERIFIABLE VIRTUE

CHARITY, A QUICKLY VERIFIABLE VIRTUE

Think of it this way . . .

It’s the givers in this world who readily offer themselves and are truly and immediately effective in making the world around them a better place to live. They are the breath of fresh air amongst the muck of the deteriorating parts of this world. The word that comes to mind, is charitable.

A charitable person is disposed to show a kindly and merciful attitude, especially to others in distress and to help when and where possible. They will, invariably, extend a warm personal affection because they recognize that since God has shown us pity, we should also learn to pity others who are in a bind; to do what we can to lift their spirits.

From Proverbs 10:11-12: “The words of the godly are a life-giving fountainlove makes up for all offenses.”

And here’s what happens when a charitable person lets heaven’s power work through them: “He (God) makes the whole body fit together perfectly. As each part (a charitable person) does its (his) own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love.” (Eph. 4:16, NLT).

THAT MAN IS A SUCCESS

Who has lived well, laughed often and loved much; who has gained the respect of intelligent men and the love of children; who has filled his niche and accomplished his task; who leaves the world better than he found it, whether by an improved poppy, a perfect poem or a rescued soul; who never lacked appreciation of earth’s beauty or failed to express it; who looked for the best in others and gave the best he had.
